-Formaldehyde - Used to make cotton wrinkle-resistant and prevent shrinkage, but it can release toxic fumes and cause skin irritation.

-Heavy Metals- Such as lead and cadmium, which can be present in dyes and textile finishes, posing health risks if they come into contact with the skin.

-Chlorine Bleach - Often applied to whiten cotton, but it releases harmful byproducts like dioxins and furans into the environment.

-Glyphosate: A widely used herbicide often applied to genetically modified cotton to manage weeds. It has been classified by some agencies as a probable carcinogen.

-Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs): Used in cotton fabrics for flame resistance but are known to be toxic and can bioaccumulate in the body.
